• Hose vs path:
The core RubberHose mechanic is the Hose Group. A set of two controllers and a customizable Hose layer work together to give you intuitive control over curves the way standard Paths cannot. All motion is live with no baked keyframes.
Hoses can be connected in whatever direction is best for the project. Connect a Hose between two animated layers or parent layers to the Hose end controllers for dynamic rotation based on the bend of the hose (all easily controlled by you).
• Hose Settings:
Bends happen naturally based on the length you define for the Hose. The method of bending can be as sharp or as round as you prefer. Hoses can be stretched beyond this defined length and the controllers will even let you know when this happens.
RubberHose is a first-of-its-kind rigging solution relying entirely on ShapeLayers. This allows for resolution independence, infinite styling possibilities and the ability to redesign a character mid-way through animation without fear of rig breaking.
In addition to all the fun stuff, RubberHose comes packaged with a set of utilities for managing group naming, selection, controller/reference visibility and matting.
